NIDEK GS-1 Gonioscope – Glaucoma Diagnosis with 360˚ Colour Imaging

The new NIDEK GS-1 Gonioscope which provides 360° automated colour ACA imaging with novel viewing options. With a 16 mirror Gonio lens, the NIDEK GS-1 rapidly captures quality colour images of the whole anterior chamber angle and the structures therein. A simple alignment process allows for quick and easy auto capture of the whole 360° angle and the neatly designed device comes with a large rotatable LED touch screen. Image capture itself takes around 16 seconds per eye and the whole process, including set up, takes about two minutes per patient.

The NIDEK GS-1 Gonioscope captures multiple images for each segment of the whole angle at varying focal planes and automatically uses the best image from each segment to stitch together a complete image of the whole angle. There are thus many viewing options available to the practitioner.

It is clear that this device will revolutionise gonioscopy in ophthalmology.

Automated circumferential gonio-photography

An internal optical system automatically rotates and acquires color photographs of the iridocorneal angle in 16 directions / 360 degrees documenting the entire angle. Each direction can be captured in 17 different foci, enabling a versatile approach to iridocorneal angle photography.

Export images

The images acquired by the GS-1 can be displayed as a single image, with circular stitching, or linear stitching. In addition to detailed assessment with single image, stitching allows localization of features/pathologies within the entire angle. High-resolution color images are exported in JPEG, PNG and PDF files.

Non-contact gel immersion measurement

To ensure patient comfort, a specific coupling gel is used during image acquisition. The multi-mirror prism is not intended to touch the cornea.
