We caught up with our Lead Business Development Manager-Lab Division, Liam Gill, on training, tattoos and twins….
How long have you been working for Birmingham Optical and what made you join?
I have been working for Birmingham Optical for six years; when I left school I got into an engineering apprenticeship with a large optical company. Birmingham Optical always provided outstanding support to me when a repair was out of my depth. I knew that’s where I wanted to be, and after six years of hard work I got there.
What does your new role entail?
I recently had the opportunity to move away from the service department to become the lead Business Development Manager for the lab division, which involves managing a sales team and making the division more successful.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Every day is different; seeing different people daily and knowing we can increase a practice’s efficiency, reliability and profitable with our kit is amazing.
What’s the best thing about working at Birmingham Optical?
Everyone is passionate about what they do, knowing we have supplied equipment that has helped to save people’s vision – or even life – by early detection is unreal.
What’s your favourite quote, saying or motto?
‘You get what you work for not what you wish for.’
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Just the gym really, and having tattoo work done.
Any burning ambitions?
I want to skydive.
Tell us something about you that we don’t know…
I am a twin and I also went to the same school as Craig David.
