Birmingham Optical are recruiting for a Field Service Engineers to join our team in Northern Ireland:

The area to be covered by this role is based in Northern Ireland, with travel out of region required where necessary.

Below is the description and requirements for the role.

As a Field Service Engineer you will be responsible for carrying out effective and efficient installations, services, repairs and calibrations of premium Optical, Ophthalmic and Lens Edger products in customer premises.

Key responsibilities:

1. Install new equipment and de-commission customer equipment.
2. Service, repair and calibrate all company instruments and machinery on customer’s premises.
3. Provide technical support to customers and colleagues.
4. Manage individual car stock.
5. Carry out admin tasks associated with the role.
6. Identify and escalate any service opportunities.
7. Support company growth by creating sales leads for equipment and service contracts.
8. Follow through in meeting commitments, deadlines and resolving escalations.

Qualifications and experience sought:

This role would most suit Engineers with experience of Optical, Medical or Bio-medical equipment however previous applicants have come from the Optical industry , Electrical engineering industry, or from other Field Service industries.

1. Proven technical competence and experience with equipment maintenance.
2. The ability to read and interpret technical documents such as engineering documents, operation and maintenance instructions.
3. Knowledge of PC hardware and be PC literate.
4. Previous experience of working within a service organization.
5. Full driving license.
6. Desirable: Relevant industry experience or experience from a similar industry and ability to learn new systems.
7. Desirable: Qualified in an engineering or IT discipline, or hands on engineering experience in electro-mechanical engineering.
